14. The Defeat Wavorly debuts with Conquering The Fear Of Flight, an amazing album full of power and inspiration!
Introducing starts the album as a very nice orchestral introduction full of string instruments that really blends nicely as we go into the next song.
The first actual song on the album is Madmen which you have probably heard already. It is a powerful song with some really great vocals. With the intro before it, it starts the album off on a very good note.
Part One is the first song that was inspired by C.S. Lewis' "The Great Divorce" about the character of the book that chooses Hell. It is another great song, sticking with the powerful sound.
Stay With Me is yet another good song. That is all I can really say about this song. It is good, fast song with great advice for relationships.
We get a break with Praise And Adore (Some Live Without It) which is another song you have probably already heard. It is the calmest, almost and praise and worship, song on the album. If you have liked what you heard so far, you will not be disappointed with this inspiring track.
Endless Day is the second song that was inspired by C.S. Lewis' "The Great Divorce" about the character of the book that chooses Heaven. A friend of mine related this song and Part One to C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Last Battle" as well. This song is one that I really like a lot and probably my favorite on the album. The lyrics are very well written. Another great song.
We get a another slight break with Sleeper. It is one of the more calmer songs on the album. It is yet another enjoyable song with great vocals and an inspiring message to follow God's will and not your own.
Another calm song is Summer Song. It is very nice love song that one of the band members wrote for his girlfriend. It has beautiful lyrics and soothing vocals.
Time I Understood takes us back to the sound from earlier on the album. More great lyrics, great vocals, and great music! The strings on this song are very nice. At the end, is what I would call an interlude. Like Introducing, it is all string instruments. It reminds me of something you would hear on the TV show LOST.
Forgive And Forget is a great song anger-releasing song. That is actually what the song is all about, letting go of all your anger. The song keeps with the sound of the rest of the album.
How Have We Come This Far is another calm song with more soothing vocals in the beginning and more praise and worship like Praise And Adore. If I had to guess, I would say expect this song to be on the radio in the next few months. But, that is only my guess.
Twenty Twenty is another song that keeps with the sound of the rest of the album. A sound that I never get tired of even though it is through the album. Near the end, there is yet another amazing 'interlude' with great string instruments that leads nicely into the last song.
The final song on the album is Tale Of The Dragon's Defeat. A great title for a great story that the band says is an allegory for the story of Christ. This song has amazing strings and is my favorite song on the album.
The album ends with an outro titled Dragon. Just like the introduction and the 'interludes', it is full of string instruments that ends the album on a great note.
Overall, this album is a must-have! I liked it the first time I listened and still cannot get enough of it. The strings are just one of the amazing things about this album. Being a huge C.S. Lewis fan, I really enjoyed hearing songs inspired by him. You may think that I repeated myself a lot, but it was such a good album that it was hard to say anything otherwise. Out of the albums that have released so far this year, if I had to recommend only one I would recommend this one. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
